🍷Tasting Notes: It is difficult to enthuse any more about the 2019 vintage of Boschkloof's Epilogue Syrah as it approaches perfection. With an average of 98 points over the last 4 vintages from Tim Atkin MW and 95 from Christian Eedes, Epilogue has already reached the pinnacle of South African wine.
The Epilogue vineyard was planted by Jacques Borman in 1996 after his ground-breaking success with Syrah at La Motte in the late '80s and early '90s. Early vintages, were impressive but Reenen Borman has brought this vineyard to another level.
Modern Rhone in style this wine has a lot of perfumed aromatics with hints of white pepper and oak spice. Great concentration on the mid-palate with silky tannins. A truly well-balanced wine. Certified and bottled on the farm. Good to drink now, but will develop and mature over the next 10 years. Epilogue is Boschkloof's flagship red wine made from a single block of vineyard. Made as naturally as possible. 100% Syrah. 30% is whole-bunch fermented, 25% concrete aged 30% in new oak and the rest in old French oak. All 400 litre barrels. Very limited supply.
