In 2002 Tony and Catherine stumbled on a tiny abandoned vineyard in the foothills of Mount Brown, in the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury. Waist high in weeds it presented an irresistible challenge and has gone on to produce trophy winning wines.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Catherine when she lived in Singapore, it is such an advantage to work with someone who really understands the climate in Singapore and which wines are most enjoyable in our hot humid temperatures. The Mount Brown Estates Sauvignon Blanc and Mount Brown Estates Pinot Noir are among our best sellers.
Despite huge success and making wine for some of the big players in New Zealand, Mount Brown Estates remains a family owned vineyard crafting small parcels of beautiful wines from their estates. The best fruit is reserved for their own Mount Brown Estates label.
